Pacquiao Announces Next Opponent; Not Floyd Again

Handlers of Filipino boxing sensation Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao announced Wednesday that Pacquiao would be facing “Sugar” Shane Mosley May 7th in Las Vegas, NV.  With this announcement, fans are given another round of “who gives a hoot”, courtesy of boxing.

Mosley represents yet another fading opponent whose best days are behind him for Pacquiao, although at one point “Sugar” was considered by boxing insiders to be one of the top pound-for-pound fighters on the planet.

Fans simply will not be satisfied with any opponent for Pacquiao not named “Floyd Mayweather” but Mayweather continues to be just as elusive out of the ring as he is in the ring.  Mayweather’s name has been in the news recently for yet another embarrassing incident, this time for allegedly poking a security guard in the face outside his home.  Mayweather and legal problems go together like, well, Mayweather and legal problems and one has to wonder if the mega-fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather will ever materialize.

With an estimated payout of over $40 million for each fighter, and no with injuries or other obstacles stopping these two from meeting, why can’t this fight get done?  Mayweather has requested Olympic style drug testing for Pacquiao which far exceeds what the NSAC requires for pre-fight screening forcing some to question how badly Mayweather really wants to fight Pacquiao.  Also, Mayweather and his uncle Roger Mayweather, who happens to be his trainer, continue to have run-ins with the law which they claim prohibits them from being able to focus on a fight of that magnitude.
