We rejoin “The Ultimate Fighter 12” with the fallout of the wild card announcement and a shocked team GSP.
GSP Training Session: Dane Sayers expressed his disappointment at being left out of the of the wild card match up. Jonathan Brookins’ found it strange that the person who suffered the worst loss in the preliminary round, Marc Stevens was chosen instead of him.
GSP thinks Dana White (UFC president) made the decision based on Stevens’ fight to get into the house, rather than the loss in the preliminary round. Dana thinks that Sayers future is bright, but Stevens is the better fighter.
Bruce Leroy aka Alex Cacares complains that he is suffering from “back problems,” although his teammates believe he is just slacking.
“I’m in quite some pain,” Alex says in a confessional. “This is worse than fighting.”
Koscheck Training Session: Koscheck backs the decision to put Stevens and Aaron Wilkinson in the wild card fight. (Hey Josh your team didn’t make it hard to earn both spots. I use the term EARN loosely) Stevens admits that he is feeling the pressure after getting DESTROYED in the preliminary fight and make a point to say he won’t get caught again. (The producers wouldn’t foreshadow his loss again?)
In the back of the dressing room Team GSP’s paramedic Brad Tate and Koscheck start up with each other AGAIN. (Hey does Koscheck know the meaning of paramedic? I’m just saying.) Tate says Koscheck is disrespectful to his colleagues (which he is) and Koscheck laughs him off. Josh pretends to lunge at the large man or male nurse as Koscheck calls him, then bangs on the closed door, and then comes at Tate with a toilet plunger. (Josh, you do know there are cameras filming this right.)
Back At The House: Bruce Leroy starts his antics once again, he boasts and taunts them and forces Michael Johnson to point out that you can’t talk trash if you sit out during practices.
Koscheck Training Session: Steven’s and Wilkinson are preparing for their fight and he winner gets to move on to the quarterfinals. ( Since Josh has two fighters in the wild card does that mean we get more time with him, because that’s what everyone needs is more Josh Koscheck.) Wilkinson admits it is the nature of the business to fight your teammate and someone who your train with. (Is Dana feeding this kid lines)Wilkinson and Stevens go as far as to make plans to train together after the show. (is this a budding bromance?)
Weigh In: as the teams gather for the weigh in Koscheck decides to depants Tate. “If you’re going to try to embarrass me, you’re going to have to do a whole lot more than that,” Brad says. (Ok, Josh I need to see your ID, who old are you? no really how old?)
Koscheck, a man who knows when enough is enough, keeps after Tate. Tate’s patience is wearing thin, when Tate tells Koscheck that he’s only famous because of his loss to GSP. “What’s one thing you’ve accomplished in life?” asks Brad, who then hits on a sore subject. “Faking a knee?” (Hey Brad, sir you hit a nerve on this one.)
The slight at Koscheck’s faking or complaining about illegal knees. Koscheck’s acting for the referees only for the videos to show they might not have landed. Brad won this round even though Koscheck throws out another male nurse bomb. (Seriously does this man know the meaning of the word PARAMEDIC?)
Josh stands up and tries to choke Tate, who quickly swats his arm away and the rest of the cast members attempt to break up the brawl. Sayers tries to keep the peace, but he takes a couple of punches for his trouble. Sayers is screaming at Koscheck as they try to restore order. Koscheck tries to explain what happened; “You lose it, you just kind of snap.”
(Well, well, well another fight that involves a coach…)
Sayers storms out and tries to explain what happened; “I was trying to [expletive] help him,” Dane says in a confessional. “And then he put his hands on me and just stiff-armed my face. Who wouldn’t be pissed?”
Koscheck goes to GSP locker room to find Sayers to apologize for his actions. Koscheck couldn’t muster up a heartfelt statement and gives some weak defense of saying what Sayers “did”. Sayers still upset by the situation accepts Koscheck’s apology, but admits it was very weak.
Koscheck in a confessional blames GSP (because it never poor lil Joshs fault) for “Masterminding” the whole fight. GSP only brought Tate to talk trash just so GSP didn’t have too. (Hey Josh did you hear about the Man living in the moon.) After the mêlée both fighters made weight.
Koscheck stands next to Tate and enquires if he’d like to “hold hands and walk out”: this is either Koscheck weak attempt at an apology or just more Koscheck being Koscheck.
GSP calls an team meeting to tell his team that two of his fighter will face each other in the next round. GSP asks everyone to write down a name of the fighter that would like to fight, Gsp wants to make sure he gets the best match up.
Johnson hopes that he can have a shot at Leroy.
Back at the house: Wilkinson gets a call from home (never a good sign) Wilkinson’s mother informs him that his grandmother has past away and tells him “Nana would kick your ass if you came home.”
Wilkinson struggles to keep the tears back, but promises that he won’t come home. He breaks down in private and plans on not letting his teammates know about the news.
Koscheck plans on not cornering either of his fighters and sits in the stands so that he doesn’t show favoritism. (WHAT THE ??? Did Koscheck just do something selfless? Does he care about something other than the man looking back at him in the mirror?) “It’s not often you get a second chance,” Koscheck tells each fighter.
The Fight: Marc Stevens vs. Aaron Wilkinson
The fighters come out and size each other up with a few weak leg kicks. The Brit (Wilkinson) fired the first shot and Stevens retaliates with a leg kick and takedown. Stevens winds up in side mount and connects with a few short elbows. The corner instructions are the only thing that could be heard. Stevens moves into full mount and take Wilkinson’s back as he tries to roll free. Wilkinson scambles, but Stevens is relentless. Stevens keep Wilkinson’s back after a short escape and works for the choke. Wilkinson is bleeding under his eye and make tries to improve his position and rolls into an armbar. Wilkinson escapes and finds his way into a triangle choke. Wilkinson stacks his opponent and shoves him into the cage delivering punches to the body. Stevens gains some leverage and tightens the choke, but eats a series of punches as the round ends.
The second round opens with Wilkinson striking and mark throws a haymaker that misses left, but scores a takedown. Wilkinson on the way down secures a guillotine and Stevens taps quickly. (Dude! AGAIN?)
Stevens looks dead into the camera to deliver the line of the night:”I guess I need to work on my guillotine defense.” (Yes, yes you do….)
The other members of team Koscheck re a little upset thinking that they could have fought better than Stevens. Koscheck tells Wilkinson to ice his cut, because his next fight is soon. Wilkinson is happy to still be alive in the competition.
Time to make the picks for the next round, Dana holds a closed door meeting with Koschcek and GSP. GSP and Dana discuss Johnson vs Bruce Leroy for the teammate vs. teammate fight: they call the fighters in for their input and they both agree. Koscheck thinks GSP is getting his number 1 pick an easy ticket to the Semi-finals.
Johnson isn’t the only one who is itching to take a shot at Bruce Leroy, every fighter on both teams want a shot at Leroy. GSP continues campaigning for Johnson vs Leroy, although Dana wants Leroy vs Nam Phan. GSP makes his case and starts giving away vital information his fighters and Koscheck is eating it up. (OH GOERGE….)
Dana makes the final call and gathers the troops for his announcement:
Team GSP’s Jonathan Brookins vs. Team Koscheck’s Sako Chivitchian
Team GSP’s Kody McKenzie vs. Team Koscheck’s Nam Phan
Team GSP’s Kyle Watson vs. Team Koscheck’s Aaron Wilkinson
Team GSP’s Michael Johnson vs. Team GSP’s Alex Caceres
Koscheck is unhappy with Johnson getting Bruce Leroy and claims and gave it to him out of pitty. GSp on the other hand is all smiles….
