The Season premier of The Ultimate Fighter aired at 9 pm on spike TV, this season is anchored by the former Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and the explosive Junior Dos Santos. Tune in to MMANEWSLEAK each week to get a full recap.

With that quick intro out of the way, let’s jump into the season debut.

The episode opens at the TUF training Center, which has become a familiar site to fans. Dana White, the UFC president greets the contestants and announces that, unlike past seasons, they won’t fight to get into the house.

The elimination round might have been axed, but the “wild-card” fight will still be around. The “wild-card” allows two fighters from the opening round to gain a redemption shot. The coaches were introduced and the fighters give a run down of their biographies.

Audition Time: (If you don’t know how this show works yet just follow along the tags) The fighters work out for their coaches so that they can be drafted accurately.

“Gonna see if you guys are worth a [expletive],” Brock jokes to a group of fighters. “So we can win some fights around here.” Brock leans heavily on his strength and conditioning coach, Luke Richardson, who puts the fighters through conditioning drills.

Junior then addresses the guys in ENGLISH! His English is vastly improved and he also introduces Lew Polley as his coach and translator. Junior, though, thinks Brock worries too much about conditioning and not enough about their skill set.

During the sparing sessions, Brock asks some questions to each fighter to get a feel for how the guys are. Junior on the other hand is focused on the skills of the fighters and watches wrestling practice closely. During the rolling sessons a fighter hurts his knee and the auditions end after that.

Brock and Junior meet with Dana in private, he flips a coin to determine who gets first pick. Brock wins and takes the option to pick first, which gives Junior the chance to pick the first fight.
